Sky Glass Not Connecting To Internet – How To Fix It?

Have you got a Sky Glass TV, but it is not connecting to the internet through a WiFi network? This problem can be frustrating as it robs you of viewing content on native streaming apps, leaving you with Freeview channels.

In this informative article, we’ll explore the possible causes of this problem and how you can get network access back on your TV.

Why won’t my Sky Glass connect to the internet?

  • WiFi signals are unstable.
  • TV software is glitching.
  • The router is disconnecting the internet intermittently.
  • Your service provider is experiencing an outage due to a technical problem.

How do I connect my Sky Glass to the internet?

1. Power Cycle Your TV

Your Sky Glass can often glitch and cause WiFi connectivity problems. So the first thing to do here is to power cycle the TV with these steps:

  • Turn off the Glass TV with the remote.
  • Pull out all the cables, including the Power cable.
  • Also, plug the power cable out of the mains.
  • Wait 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect all the cables, switch on the mains, and turn your TV on.
  • Open any streaming app; WiFi access is restored if the content starts to play.

2. Update Network Configurations

Sometimes, when you change the existing network provider, Sky Glass fails to connect to its internet. In this case, you need to update the TV network settings. Here’s how:

  • Press the button with the Home icon on your Sky Glass remote and select Settings from the menu.
  • Choose Network.
  • Keep pressing right till you see Reset; press Select.
  • Press right again and choose the Confirm option to proceed.
  • Wait for the network list to populate, choose your new provider, and press Select.
  • Press the Home button on the remote to finish updating network settings and verify the fix.

3. Restart Your Router

Your Sky Glass can also mimic that it is not connected to WiFi if the internet speed is poor. To fix this issue, reboot your router by following the below steps.

  • Press the Power button on the router to switch it off. If your router has no switch, simply pull off the power cable from the back.
  • Remove all the cables and plug the power cable out of the main socket.
  • Wait 3-5 minutes.
  • Plug the power cable back into the mains and reconnect all the other wires to their designated ports at the back of the router.
  • Press the Power button on the router to turn it on, and wait for the lights to come on and get stable.
  • Finally, switch on your Sky Glass and see if the TV can access and connect to WiFi.

4. Move Devices Closer

If you’ve recently moved your Sky Glass TV away from the router, there is a possibility that it cannot receive better WiFi signals, resulting in internet connectivity issues. So, it is best to place the TV in the previous location or move the router closer to the new area.

Note: You can also use WiFi range extenders to attenuate the signals reaching the TV, which is placed far from the router.

5. Factory Reset Glass TV

Like any device’s firmware, your Sky Glass software is prone to errors and malfunctions, such as failing to connect to WiFi. The best route here is to factory reset the TV to the default settings, which will probably resolve the issue. Here’s how:

  • Navigate to Settings.
  • Select System Management
  • Choose Resets and Updates.
  • Select Factory Reset and press Confirm.

6. Contact Your Network Provider

If all of the above solutions fail, check other devices in your home to see if WiFi is connected or working fine on them.  If not, your network provider can be the source of the issue. So contact them and see if the service is experiencing an outage and inquire how long it would take to restore the internet.

Note: You can also test your internet connection online if you have Sky Broadband network service.
