Sky Glass Remote Won't Connect

Sky Glass Remote Won’t Connect: Fix Sync, Pairing, Unresponsive Volume Button

Do you own a new Sky Glass, but the remote won’t connect, sync, or pair with the TV? Are the volume buttons also not working and there is a delay in their response?

Read below to find out why you are experiencing this issue and what you can do to resume its connectivity to the TV for correct functionality.

Why won’t my Sky Glass remote connect?

  • Your remote batteries have gone bad, or the protective cover in the new unit is interfering with their connection.
  • You have not paired the Sky Glass remote successfully.
  • Sky Glass TV might be glitching.

How do I fix an unresponsive Sky remote?

1. Pair the Sky Glass Remote Correctly

If your Sky Glass TV remote is not pairing, you may have been trying to sync it in the wrong way. Your Sky Glass needs to pair with the remote via Bluetooth for an accurate pairing. If you fail to do this, the remote simply won’t connect or sync.

To pair the remote correctly with the remote, turn on your Sky Glass TV and do these steps:

  • Press the 1 and 3 buttons on the Glass remote and hold them for at least 3 seconds.
  • Wait for the “Connected” message to show up on the TV screen.
  • Select “Continue.”

If you see a “Connect your remote” message on the TV display, pairing is unsuccessful. In this case, press the 4 and 6 buttons on the remote, hold them for 3 seconds, and then redo the above steps.

INFO: You can only pair one remote to your Sky Glass, so ensure you are not trying to pair a second one, resulting in pairing issues.

2. Replace Bad batteries

Your Glass TV remote batteries might be bad and can’t provide enough juice to the TV sensor, which is why it is failing to connect with the TV, causing delayed volume button responses or initiating synching via Bluetooth.

To confirm this, cover the front of the remote and check if you see the light behind the buttons.

If so, the batteries are good to go; otherwise, replace them with the new AAA alkaline batteries to get the remote working again.

3. Inspect the Battery Compartment for a Protective Cover

A new Sky Glass remote comes with a paper wedged in the battery compartment to protect it in storage. You may have inserted the new batteries but forgot to take out the protective paper, resulting in interference and causing the remote to malfunction while pairing it to the TV.

To fix this issue, open the back cover of the remote and pull out the wedged paper. Reinsert the batteries and verify that all the buttons are operating as usual.

4. Reset Sky Glass TV

Temporary Sky Glass software glitches can contribute to remote connectivity and volume button failure. However, you can easily overcome this hurdle by power resetting the TV. Here’s how:

  • Press the “Standby” button on your Glass TV or the supplied remote.
  • Plug out the power cable from the main to switch off the TV.
  • Wait 30 seconds and plug the power cable back into the main socket.
  • Once the TV boots up by itself, press any button on the remote and see if it’s working now.

Why is my Sky Glass voice control not working?

If the voice control feature on your Sky Glass TV is not working, it is possible you have not activated it through the remote.

To fix this issue, press the 1 and 3 buttons on the remote and hold them until it pairs with the TV.

To activate the Sky Glass hands-free voice control, press the Voice button on the remote, hold it, and speak into the microphone, which is located below the Sky logo. You can start by saying ‘Hello Sky’ and then get on with commands like ‘switch volume to 25,’ ‘turn off subtitles,’ etc.

Why is the volume not working on Sky Glass?

If the volume buttons on your Sky Glass remote are not working, or you see a delay in the response, your TV might be temporarily glitching, or the remote needs a reset.

To fix the Sky Glass remote’s volume button, turn off your TV at the main wall. In case the issue persists after you turn it on, reset the remote in this way:

  • Turn on the TV.
  • Press & hold the 4 and the 6 buttons on the remote for about 10 seconds and release them.
  • Then, press & hold the 7 and 9 buttons for the same 10 seconds and release them (this will unpair the remote).
  • Finally, pair the remote again using the method mentioned above in this guide, and hopefully, the volume controls will be responsive again.
